Home Away From Home XV
The Alumni Association of
Tama Art University New York Club

September 20 - October 3, 2019
Reception: Friday, September 20, 6 - 8 pm

"Home Away From Home XV" (HAFH XV), The Alumni Association of Tama Art University New York Club Exhibition, will be held September 20 – October 3, 2019 at the TENRI Gallery.

The New York Club was established in 2003. We currently have a membership of over one hundred consisting of mostly Tristate area residents plus some in Japan. Twenty member artists will participate in this exhibition.

HAFH is an acronym of Home Away From Home which has two meanings. The first is to be conscious of our identity. The second is to present creations that break through our own barriers by making efforts in New York, the center of the art world.

The first HAFH Exhibition was held in 2004 and this is our is fifteenth exhibition. HAFH has earned a reputation as an exhibition where participating artists display their unique expressions and sensibilities.

It has been held in many locations, including galleries in Chelsea and at the Hammond Museum in North Salem, New York where the exhibitors faced various challenges. Since 2012, the exhibition has been held at the Tenri Gallery. The large space and high ceiling provide exhibitors with possibilities for further challenges.

For our collaborative exhibition this year, we have the retrospective exhibition of Yuko Ueda, an artist and designer, and a member of our club who suddenly passed away in March this year. Her artworks in which she used a variety of techniques are poetic, rich in colorful sensibilities and abstract in expression. We hope that you feel the beauty and purity of her spirit from her paintings, as we do.

In addition, with permission to use "RGB Experimental Music Laboratory" software, music based on the images of the works in this exhibition will be generated at the opening reception. We hope you enjoy this new incorporation.
