MAINE EUROPE NEW YORK
Ikuko Roth
April 13 - 24, 2017
Opening Reception: Friday April 14, 2017 6-8 PM
The Tenri Cultural Institute is excited to announce a new exhibition by Ikuko Roth. The artist focuses on landscapes of coastal Maine, Europe, and the beautiful cityscapes of New York City. Roth has traveled through the years to various locations and gained inspiration from the scenery. Maine Europe and New York consists of mostly oil paints with a few acrylic works.
Ikuko Roth has been painting landscapes, cityscapes, flowers, and the sky for nearly 60 years. She was born in Tokyo, Japan and came to the United States with a Max Beckman Scholarship to the former Brooklyn Museum Art School in 1962. She continued her education at Florida State University in Tallahassee and obtained an MFA in 1972. Roth explains that her "landscapes are a blend of the outdoor atmosphere and abstraction." In 2011, she won a Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grant. Ikuko currently lives with her husband, Richard L. Roth, a painter himself, and has two sons.
